💀 Deadfellaz joins UTA’s burgeoning roster of digital talent, which also includes CryptoPunks, Meebits, and Autoglyphs. When it comes to Deadfellaz’s NFT collection, United Talent Agency has negotiated an exclusive representation arrangement that encompasses brand collaborations and merchandise, gaming and live events.
Deadfellaz co-founder “Betty” tweeted that she was “quite confident about the future” after the band signed a deal with UTA, which had recently signed deals with CryptoPunks, Meebits, and Autoglyphs as well.
Developed under the pseudonyms “Betty” and “Psych” in August of last year, Deadfellaz is a collection of 10,000 Ethereum-based NFTs centered around zombies.
Deadfellaz members include Reese Witherspoon, Lionel Richie, Steve Aoki, Dillon Francis, and Alex Ohanian, who collectively refer to themselves as “the horde.” In the words of UTA’s head of Web3, Lesley Silverman, “Psych and Betty are great visionaries and leaders, and we’re looking forward to working with them to offer value to the Deadfellaz community and make the metaverse more egalitarian.”
There have been a few NFT collections that have drawn criticism because of their explicit representations of race or gender, but Deadfellaz innovation lead “Mec” isn’t worried about the reaction to his company’s genderless green zombies.
Deadfellaz partnering with UTA, Mec tells Decrypt, “I believe that NFTs will be more widely known outside of the NFT community in a more thoughtful and inclusive way.”
The Deadfellaz line has sold more than $82 million worth of merchandise since its debut. ETH was trading at 2.46 ETH as of Tuesday (about $7,600 per coin).
Since its beginning, Silverman said, “we’re incredibly delighted to support a female-led enterprise and one that has consistently vouched for actual inclusion and diversity.”
