Prada, the world-famous Italian fashion business, has announced its first autonomous entrance into the realm of NFTs, pairing their current limited-edition apparel release with its own blockchain-verified digital assets.

Prada will enter the non-fungible market on June 2, following in the footsteps of fashion contemporaries Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Nike. However, it is embarking on a somewhat different journey by providing assets free of charge to people who purchase a tangible piece of Prada clothing.

The new non-fungible venture will be included in its ‘Timecapsule’ series of limited-edition clothes, adding an extra layer of item verification with a corresponding serial number for each pairing.

This initial appearance will support a run of 100 Cassius Hirst-designed unisex button-down shirts.

Prada will airdrop a 3D animated capsule-shaped NFT to all product purchases, which will be available in black or white depending on the color of the item purchased. Prada has also stated that it intends to provide a retroactive airdrop for owners of any existing Timecapsule line goods.

Prada is making its second NFT appearance, having previously collaborated with sportswear behemoth Adidas. This time, the fashion house will ditch the training wheels and go it alone.
